I am taking on Kidney Care UK's October Dog Walk

This year, I’m stepping up for the October Dog Walking Challenge in support of Kidney Care UK, the leading patient support charity for people living with kidney disease. Millions of people in the UK are affected, and too many face the journey alone. Kidney Care UK is there to make sure they don’t have to.

I’m walking 32.5 miles with my dog to help raise funds for vital services, from counselling and patient grants to expert advice and advocacy. Your donation will help ensure no one has to face kidney disease without support.

I’d shift the focus towards how far you’ve come and make the Dog Walk Challenge feel like a celebration of your second chance.
Writing
In October 2023, I took part in Kidney Care UK’s October Dog Walk Challenge. Little did I know just how much life would change before I took part again!
In April 2025, I received my first kidney transplant, which sadly lasted just 12 hours due to a clinical error. Then, in January 2026, I was incredibly lucky to receive a second transplant – and with it, another chance at life.
So this October, three years after my last challenge, I’m getting my walking shoes back on and taking part again! 🐾❤️
This time, every step feels that little bit more special. I’ll be walking with my new kidney, celebrating how far I’ve come and feeling incredibly grateful to my donor and their family for the precious gift that has allowed me to be here doing this again.
I’m walking for Kidney Care UK, for everyone affected by kidney disease, for those still waiting for their call, and to celebrate the amazing difference organ donation can make.
Three years, two kidney transplants and quite a journey later… I’m back, and I can’t wait to get walking! 🐾💚
