Walk the Parks FAQs
General queries
Is there a registration fee?
£20 for adults
£10 for those aged 12 and under
Your registration fee helps us deliver a fantastic event experience and includes your cotton t-shirt, plus a medal waiting for you at the finish line.
If you choose to take on the challenge virtually then there is no registration fee!
We just ask you to fundraise as much as you are able.
What route distances can I choose from?
We offer three routes to suit every participant:
-
2 miles – a gentle, accessible stroll
-
5 miles – a relaxed, scenic challenge
-
10 miles – for those who want to stretch their legs a bit further
Walk the route that feels right for you.
Where does the event start and finish?
All of the routes are circular and will start and finish in the same place in Hyde Park. Details of the route will be shared nearer to the event date.
What time does Walk the Parks start?
Registration will be open from 9.30am with a group warm up at 10.45am ahead of a start time of 11.00am for all routes.
Do I have to finish within a certain time?
Nope! This walk is all about moving at your own pace. Stop for snacks, take photos, enjoy the views – you set the rhythm. Our team will be at the finish point until 4.30pm to hand out medals but if you want to finish a bit later then no problem, just email challengeevents@kidneycareuk.org and we will post your medal out to you!
Is the route guided?
This is a self‑guided event, giving you the freedom to walk at your own pace and enjoy the route in your own way. You’ll follow a clearly marked route map, with our team on hand at key points and at the finish to support you.
Am I responsible for my own wellbeing?
Yes. As this is a self‑guided walk, participants are responsible for their own wellbeing throughout the event. Please choose a distance that suits your ability, stay hydrated, and take breaks when needed. If you have any medical conditions or concerns, we recommend seeking advice beforehand and ensuring you feel comfortable taking part.
Is the event accessible?
We have endeavoured to make the route as accessible as possible, therefore our routes take place along paths that are generally flat and suitable for wheelchairs, mobility aids and pushchairs.
However we appreciate that everyone is individual and therefore if you have any accessibility questions or concerns please reach out to the team challengeevents@kidneycareuk.org
Can I bring friends or family?
Absolutely! This event is built on community and togetherness. Sign up your friends and family, form a team, or meet new people on the day.
I am walking on my own, will there be other people I can walk with?
Of course! We have organised a solo walkers group for the 5 mile route, therefore let the team know at registration on the day that you would like to join this group and we will introduce you to the group leader.
Are children welcome?
Yes – this is a family‑friendly event so please do get the whole family signed up! Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Dogs are welcome in Royal Parks, but you’ll need to follow their guidelines, including lead‑required areas.
